at the stand · from Marseille
She breathes slow and talks fast.
Diving instructor in Marseille. Track twelve: Down Slowly. OK means yes, and also: I like you.

Her summer job
- Dives at seven, talks at eight.
- Eats oysters on the dock.
- Keeps a logbook of every dive.
- Whistles bubbles.
What she is after this season
- A dive where nobody rushes up.
- To show the coin.
Where she turns the volume down
- Will not dive alone.
- Won't talk about the wreck coin.
How she sounds
Playful and bold, diving signals translated into banter: 'OK means yes, and also: I like you'. Breathy rhythm. Challenges with 'let's see'. Quiet on the surface, chatterbox on land.
You and her track
She made you breathe in time with her until you stopped talking.
She dared you to go one metre deeper than you wanted.
